What this page covers
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones GetToolFix uses, and how you can control them. It works alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers the bigger picture of how we handle data — think of this page as the zoomed-in version, focused specifically on cookies.
What are cookies, exactly?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They don’t damage your device or contain harmful code — they mostly just help a site remember things, like a setting you chose or how you got to the page. Some cookies are set by the site you’re visiting directly (first-party cookies), and others are set by outside services the site relies on, like analytics or advertising providers (third-party cookies).
Why GetToolFix uses cookies
We keep our use of cookies limited to what actually helps the site work and helps us understand it. Broadly, we use them for three reasons:
Essential functionality
A small number of cookies help basic parts of the site work properly — for example, remembering a preference you set during your visit. Without these, some features might not behave as expected.
Analytics
We use analytics cookies (such as those from Google Analytics) to understand, in aggregate, how people use GetToolFix — which tools get used most, how visitors find the site, and where things might be confusing or broken. This data is anonymized and aggregated; we’re not looking at individual behavior, just overall patterns that help us improve the tools.
Advertising
If ads are displayed on GetToolFix, our advertising partners may use cookies to show ads that are more relevant to general interests, and to measure how those ads perform. These cookies may track browsing behavior across different websites, which is standard practice for ad networks like Google AdSense.
Cookies we use, at a glance
| Type | Purpose | Example provider |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Site functionality, remembering preferences | GetToolFix (first-party) |
| Analytics | Understanding site usage and traffic | Google Analytics |
| Advertising | Showing and measuring ads | Google AdSense / ad partners |
Exact cookie names and durations can vary as we update our tools and partners, but this table reflects the categories you’ll encounter on the site.
How long cookies stick around
Some cookies are “session” cookies that disappear once you close your browser. Others are “persistent” and stay for a set period — anywhere from a few days to a couple of years, depending on the purpose. Analytics and advertising cookies typically fall into this second category.
Your choices
You’re in control of cookies, and you have a few ways to manage them:
- Browser settings — Every major browser lets you block, delete, or get notified about cookies. Check your browser’s settings menu under “Privacy” or “Cookies” for options specific to Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
- Opt-out tools — Services like Google offer their own opt-out options for analytics and ad personalization (for example, the Google Ads Settings page).
- Do Not Track — Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. We respect this where technically feasible, though it isn’t yet a universal standard across the web.
Turning off non-essential cookies won’t stop the calculators from working — the tools themselves don’t depend on cookies to function. You might just see less relevant ads, or we’ll have a slightly foggier picture of how the site is used.
Third-party cookies aren’t fully in our control
When a third-party service like an analytics or ad provider sets a cookie, that cookie is governed by that provider’s own privacy and cookie practices, not ours. We choose reputable providers, but we’d encourage checking their policies directly if you want the full technical detail on how they handle data.
Updates to this policy
As we add or change tools, analytics, or advertising partners, this policy may be updated to reflect that. The “Last updated” date at the top will always show the most current version.
